Yes, Jeannette's House operates private homes located in the City of Welland. All homes are regularly inspected to ensure compliance with service standards.

Are there any prerequisites for placement?

Yes. A thorough risk assessment is conducted for each applicant to determine if the housing is a good fit. Applicants who are unable to evacuate independently in case of an emergency (e.g., fire alarm) may not be eligible. The assessment considers both physical and cognitive limitations.

How much does residency cost?

We offer a base monthly rate that is affordable for most individuals. However, we understand that financial circumstances can vary, and we are open to discussing alternative financial arrangements if needed.

Are semi-private rooms less expensive than private rooms?

Our room rates are among the lowest in the region, with consistent pricing for both private and semi-private rooms. The decision on room assignment is based on availability and individual needs (e.g., a semi-private room may be more suitable for someone who prefers some social interaction).

Do you have long waitlists for residency in Independent living homes?

No. We maintain a healthy inventory of available rooms and process applications quickly—typically within 24-48 hours—making us one of the quickest facilities for placement.

How long does the application process take?

We aim to make the application process simple and quick, often processing applications on the same day. However, individual circumstances may occasionally cause delays.

There is no set time limit for residency. Some residents live with us long-term, while others use our services as a stepping stone while transitioning to other housing options.

Who is eligible?

To qualify for residency and funding through one of our partner agencies. Homeless people on ODSP who don't have families or anyone to take care. They can't cook for themselves can contact as well.

Do you accommodate short stays?

While our primary focus is long-term stability for residents, we also offer transitional housing through our Waitlist Supports Program. This program helps service providers by offering temporary housing for individuals while they wait for permanent housing solutions.
